Welcome to the Julian Academy
The ancient philosophical schools understood education as more than the accumulation of information. Philosophy was a way of life—a discipline through which the student learned to understand the Kosmos, cultivate the soul, approach the Gods, and live according to reason and virtue.The Julian Academy continues this tradition through structured courses in theology, philosophy, religious history, ritual studies, theurgy, and related disciplines.Courses are designed for both members of the Church of Thessaly and independent students who wish to undertake a serious study of the Hellenistic religious and philosophical traditions.
Julian Academy Programs
Julian Academy Programs provide structured pathways of sacred education within the three Schools of Theology & Divine Studies, Theurgy & Sacred Practice, and Sacred Philosophy. Students may explore individual courses, pursue focused Certificates, or undertake a complete program leading through the Academy’s three levels of recognition: Scholar, Licentiate, and Laureate. Each level represents increasing depth of study—from foundational knowledge and formation, through advanced interpretation and application, to mastery and original contribution. Students progress at their own pace through a curriculum designed to unite serious study, thoughtful reflection, and engagement with the living religious and philosophical traditions of the Academy.

On the Gods and the Kosmos
Sallustius' On the Gods and the Kosmos is one of the clearest surviving introductions to the religious philosophy of Late Antiquity. In this course, students examine Sallustius' teachings concerning the Gods, myth, the Kosmos, Providence, Fate, virtue, the soul, sacrifice, and the nature of divine worship.
